The Wonders of Aromatherapy

Whether it's peppermint, lemon, rose; we all have a scent that we tend to gravitate towards, it speaks to us, enlightening our mood. giving that sense of comfort. When it comes the use of aromatherapy in the conjunction with massage, it can give a deeply harmonizing experience. At Voltaire Therapy, the methodically use of essential oils provides nurture- physically, mentally, and emotionally.

What are Essential Oils?

Concentrated compounds extracted from certain parts of plants to capture that plant’s scent, flavor, and natural benefits. You’ll find these highly potent compounds in a plant’s seeds, flowers, bark, roots, leaves, stems, rinds, fruit, and resin. As an example, in citrus fruits, essential oils are found inside the peel. Once extracted, essential oils will often have a stronger scent than the plants they hail from and exhibit more concentrated effects.

How essential oils are used at Voltaire Therapy?

Essential oils are used topically at Voltaire therapy. Typically, they will be diluted within a carrier oil such as almond or jojoba oil. When essential oils are applied to the skin in oil or lotion, they penetrate the skin through pores and hair follicles and absorbed by capillaries. Once they enter the bloodstream, they affect adjacent organs and circulate through the body until they are excreted.
