Frequently asked questions
One massage doesn't fit all, and no two massages are the same! With that being said, the therapeutic massage is designed to address personal goals. To accomplish this, Gia combines sports and deep tissue techniques with alternative therapies, including acupressure, myofascial release, and PNF stretching. Hot stones, scraping tools, cupping, and or aromatherapy may be used if needed or requested to reach client goals.
Therapeutic massage is not necessarily painful but can feel intense depending on how tense or stiff your muscles are. Throughout the massage, firm pressure is used, which may be adjusted based on what I feel, such as increased tightness, knots, or taut bands of muscle. Communication is key, so please let me know if the pressure needs to be adjusted. If you have any concerns, feel free to discuss them before the session. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities.
The frequency of massage depends on your individual needs and goals. In general: For maintenance and wellness: Once a month. For athletic, highly active individuals: Weekly or biweekly. For chronic pain and high-stress individuals: Weekly or biweekly. Regular massages can help maintain your overall well-being and address specific issues more effectively. One massage a month can make a significant difference in pain management and mobility.
For many clients, the first massage can be anxiety-inducing and exciting at the same time. Generally, the session will begin with a brief consultation highlighting areas of concern and a goal. During the massage, I will check in with you regarding pressure, comfort, and temperature. After the massage, I will allow feedback and discuss anything I noticed.

Loose clothing is also an option if you prefer not to undress. Your comfort and privacy are our top priorities. We aim to create a supportive and therapeutic environment for all clients.
At Massage by Gia, the duration of your massage session can significantly impact its effectiveness, tailored to your specific needs. Please note that every massage is given with intention. I do not like to rush through my work. Therefore, for general relaxation or stress relief, a 60-minute session is usually adequate to address overall tension and provide a rejuvenating experience. If you have specific areas of concern or chronic issues, a 75-minute or 90-minute session is highly recommended. This extended time allows me to apply more detailed techniques, targeting problem areas more comprehensively. For an even deeper focus and a more thorough full-body treatment, consider scheduling a 120-minute session. This length is ideal for those seeking a comprehensive therapeutic experience, where multiple techniques and a detailed understanding of body anatomy can be utilized effectively. Regardless of the session length, my goal is always to provide a client-centered experience that leaves you feeling relaxed, restored, and revitalized.
Think about the mood you are in, how your body feels, how you want your body to feel, your mental state, and your goals for your massage session.
If you know you are dealing with stiffness or a musculoskeletal issue, then consider getting a therapeutic massage to fine-tune your problem.
If you want to skip the fine-tuning and would like deep, broad, consistent pressure, schedule an Ashiatsu massage.
If you are dealing with swelling or are just very sensitive, opt for lymphatic drainage
